Frankincense Essential Oil
The most reference Essential Oil in the Bible, Frankincense oil is extracted from the gum or resin of frankincense or olibanum trees, of the genus Boswellia carteri. Due to the anti-inflammatory effects of Boswellic acid found in frankincense oil, it has been traditionally used as a natural remedy. Once considered more valuable than gold, Frankincense has been referred to as "the holy grail of essential oils" because of its numerous mental and physical health benefits as an anti-inflammatory, astringent, antiseptic solution, disinfectant, deodorant, digestive aid, and diuretic.
Monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes are the most valuable elements of frankincense oil. Monoterpenes help eliminate toxins from the liver and kidneys and can deliver antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral, antitumor and expectorant properties. It is believed by some that sesquiterpenes cross the blood-brain barrier helping to stimulate the limbic system of your brain, by raising the amount of oxygen near the pineal and pituitary glands, promoting secretions of antibodies, endorphins and neurotransmitters.
Frankincense benefits include the ability to strengthen skin and improve its tone, ad elasticity.
Terpenes and boswellic acids appear to be the strongest anti-inflammatory compounds in frankincense. Frankincense has anti-inflammatory effects that may help reduce joint inflammation caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Research suggests that compounds found in frankincense may prevent the production of leukotrienes, which cause your bronchial muscles to constrict in asthma.

In addition, the boswellic acids found in Frankincense might prevent cancer cells from spreading. Frankincense is an antiseptic and disinfectant agent that has antimicrobial effects. Frankincense oil and Myrrh oil when used in combination are known to be particularly effective when used against pathogens.
Frankincense oil is very effective as a sedative because it induces a feeling of mental peace, relaxation, satisfaction, and spirituality.

When inhaled through a vaporizer or diffuser on a regular basis, frankincense essential oil has been shown to reduce the heart rate.
Frankincense essential oil contains antimicrobial benefits, working to destroy harmful germs and bacteria upon contact.
Similar to over-the-counter anti-inflammatories, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, the anti-inflammatory power of frankincense essential oil can reduce inflammation without the unwanted side effects.

Frankincense has blood thinning effects, therefore you will want to avoid if you have blood clotting problems.
How it's used
Frankincense oil is used by either inhaling the oil or absorbing it through the skin. Be sure to blend frankincense oil first with other carrier oils such as jojoba, coconut, olive or sweet almond oil.
Historically, burning Frankincense resin was a tool to vanquish negative energies or hold evil spirits at bay. To this day, it is commonly used in churches and temples and believed to affect us at our deepest level, setting our spirit free.
